What was the highlight of King Hostal Cartagena - Getsemani

It was pretty good

Comfy bed, good wifi, good kitchen but you can't use it before midday and there is no breakfast offered, location is very good just off the main square in Getsemani so you can sleep at night and the neighbourhood is very interesting. You can walk to centro easily from here. Nice roof top terrace. Air conditioning comes on in the room 8pm-2am so you can go to sleep cool.

Good location, but is noisy.

Good location, but is noisy. Had a comfy mattress.

Really was not happy with this place, the owner of the hostel was so rude to everyone. The aircon is 8pm - 2am so you sweat all night. Even when I was very ill and asked to stay on for a few hours more they said no. The main guy working wouldn’t let anyone walk two steps in if you didn’t stay there, he also wouldn’t let me hold my bags there for 4 hours before my bus. Not a nice atmosphere sadly.

Don’t.

The terrace is actually really good. Good views, nice little place for a beer (that they don’t allow you to have). Free filter water. It’s right in the party area of town.

The receptionist we first dealt with was uninterested, a bit blunt and just not very hospitable. But it must be said the young lad that replaced him on the evening shift was a delight. The place has massive lists of rules you must abide by. They don’t allow you to bring alcohol in but don’t sell any themselves which doesn’t make sense. We didn’t feel welcome. The rooms were dank, sweaty, sess pits. They have AC but switch it off at night. What is the point of that?! We didn’t want to sleep there so bad we didn’t. We just stayed up on the terrace instead. The most unusual thing however was that they never asked us to pay but instead just charged my card instead without asking.

Worst hostel ever

When I left.

By far the worst hostel I stayed in, that said after 7 month of traveling in South America. The owner's attitude was disgusting (just ignored our questions after we paid) and lied to us. There's no breakfast and kitchen is only available after 12pm noon so it's impossible to eat in the morning. Air conditioning only works from 8pm to 2am (yes they turn them off in the middle of the night). Shower is cold and smells like a urinal. Only 4 power outlets for a room of 14 people, and one of them had holes too big and wasn't functioning. They give you paper bracelets to identify you, and if you lose it you have to pay for it. You are not allowed to stay in the hostel perimeter after check-out or even leave the bags, so if you wanna spend the day when having a night bus or go a night at one of the beaches with just the necessities, it's impossible. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here, even though the price is tempting.

Location is good and the beds are ok but rest of facilities are really crap. There is no nice place to hang out so there is not really a nice vibe at the hostel. The worst part was that the property didn’t have a luggage room and the staff were unable to help me store my luggage during the afternoon.

Location

Tiny room crammed with two bunks. Staff member entered the room at 5.30am to switch off the air-conditioning and made no attempt to be quiet - just banging the door. Light not working in bathroom, no mat on soaked floor. Few chairs to sit downstairs out of the rain.

Great location but facilities not so great! Very strange set up but worth the very cheap price

Location is perfect for getsemani and the old town. Comfortable beds. Cheap and would be good value for money if small issues fixed.

Shower cubicles have wood missing so you are visible to other people showering. Toilets didn’t flush meaning there was always... something left by other guests! Air con policy was to turn off at 2am but you aren’t allowed the remote so a staff member comes in and does it in the middle of the night. Not allowed to use the kitchen until 12pm but no breakfast is offered...? Also you are made to feel as if you are using the staff kitchen as you are watched and told salt etc is not for guests

Location is good and That’s The only thing

I arrived The first night and saw many bedbugs on my bed and next to me. When i sad something About it in The morning they did not like it, they asked me if i did get bited i sad no and he was looking to me Like there is nothing wrong. in The morning they start to clean 1 bed with hot weather and Some toxic stuff instead of fumigatingthe whole place. He Sad that he first has to clean it 3 days and then fumigating. When i asked The owner why the cleaning lady is not wearing any protection for The toxic stuff he did not liked it and sad that was not my business and throw me out of The hostel because i asked too much, very unproffesional and no humanity as a owner From a hostel which receive guests From all over The World. I am traveling now for 11months non stop in south America and never been treathed on this Way neither i did wrote any good Or bad recomendation but this one was The toppp of everything. The owner and His partner dont know how to run this bissnis and are very rude... i hope you will think twice before you book this accomendation... Message to The owner; Please start with threating your workers like human beings and not like animals.. and then your guests! Good luck!
